The interview with Charlotte Cotton is mainly focused on her research and theoretical work, published in her 2005 book The Photograph as Contemporary Art. This groundbreaking publication provided unique insight into the recent artistic production and provided a much needed introduction to the understanding of the practice of contemporary photography. Charlotte Cotton’s approach towards research and writing was distinctive and unique, deriving from her professional position of a museum curator. The book quickly became a popular reference point for the comprehension of art photography of the recent decades. The conversation was focused on questioning the significance of digital technology and its thrust into the sphere of art photography, as well as on the basic premises of her research for The Photograph as Contemporary Art.
